This is another story of a haunted theater. Legend has it that all

to be Jonathan's favorite place. |

Zellie's Pub |
This former package store dates back quite a ways.
Nowadays, people experience supernatural occurrences in this pub.
Workers have claimed to have mysterious activities happen to them while
cleaning the bathroom. One person has even been "pushed" up against the
wall. Another account is that of a full beer mug that slid the full
length of the bar with the help of no one. Lights flicker at random and
sometimes the power is drained. |
| Ormond Beach |
Tomoka Lights |
This tale could be subtitled "Death Rides in Your Car" because many
have said that if you go looking for the Ormond Lights you might not
come back! If you go north on Beach Street in Ormond Beach towards
Tomoka State Park any night after midnight, you might possibly see the
Ormond Lights. The lights may be seen especially well if there are no
headlights from other cars on the road. They may be seen flickering in
amongst the giant moss-draped oak trees along the roadway all the way to
High Bridge. Some say the lights are just swamp gas, or phosphorous
lights from algae growth, but others say the lights are from a more
unearthly source.
The most popular story is the tale of the Native American warrior who
was determined to visit the princess of a neighboring chief. His father
had forbidden him to leave the tribal camp, but he went out into the
darkness with his lighter knot torch in search of his princess. It is
said that he became lost in the vast wilderness, and never found her,
and never returned. It is his ghost that one sees wandering in the oak
forests of the Ormond Beach area.
Over the years many people have died in automobile accidents while they
were looking for the Ormond Lights. If you go to look for them, watch
out for lights that may suddenly appear!! |

Silver Lake Lodge |
Silver Lake Lodge is a former hotel that has been closed for just
over 20 years. It once housed 200 rooms. Like most large buildings
left standing after vacancy, vandals have left their mark. Strange
occurrences have happened here during different investigations, such as
doors that are closed one minute then open the next. Some have claimed
to try and open a door that is locked without success, and a moment
later try again only to find that the door is no longer locked. This
place is heavily trafficked by local police who make it clear to "Stay
Out!" |

Ritz Historical Inn |
If you liked to party during alcohol prohibition, this was the place
to be in Ocala. Rich clients would frequent this establishment often
and drink freely thanks to underground suppliers. At one such party, a
random fire occurred- the cause unknown. As you may have guessed,
people died in the fire. Stories of today report sounds of the people
who attended that last party. |

Disney World Pirates of the Caribbean |
The spirit of "George" a worker who died there when a
beam fell on him during construction still haunts the attraction. At the
beginning of the day and at the end of the day attraction workers must
come on the PA system and tell George good morning and good night. If
not the attraction has been know to shut itself down adding more work
before the workers came go home for the night.
March 2004 Addition: When the ride was being built
in the early 70's (it opened Dec. 15, 1973) , George was a welder who
clearly, welded different parts of the scenes on the attraction
together. One particular area on the ride, called the "burning city",
required George to climb up quite high above the ground. George lost his
balance, and fell to his death. If you talk to any of the employees at
pirates, they will either know of someone who has had an incident with
George, or there is a chance they too have had one themselves. |

Evans High School |
The drama students and teacher have reported strange howling sounds,
lights going on and off, and even people being locked in rooms (mainly
the green room woman's restroom, and the costume room). - March 2005
Correction: The current auditorium is haunted by a man that hung himself
in the gym back in the 60's. The door on the costume room does not lock
and there is no ladies restroom in the green room, because there is no
green room. What can be heard is noises of something moving on the
catwalk above the stage and the lights around the stage will come on and
go off with out anyone working them. As a former Drama student and
graduate of Evan's, as well as many of the students have experienced the
guy from the gym in the auditorium. He has never tried to harm anyone or
scare anyone at all. It is believed he just wanders around the school
and doesn't want to leave, you can feel him in different parts of the
school. |

Every October 13th a spirit of Christopher Klink appears under the
bridge on Old Econ Rd. A light will flash under the bridge highlighting
Killer Klink's tag which is written under the bridge. (Dated October 13,

other direction. You will then see an image of Klink hanging from the
bridge, and suddenly disappear. Then the water will start flowing back
in its original direction |

Sunland Hospital |
Just as Sunland Tallahassee, the Orlando Center began
as a Tuberculosis quarantine, also named W. T. Edwards. However, it was
started much earlier than the Tallahassee branch, sometime in the mid
1940's. It closed in 1963 and re-opened in 1965 as the Sunland Training
Center of Orlando for mentally & physically handicapped children and
adults.
In 1967, the Orlando Center donated 18 handicapped
children to the Sunland Training Center of Tallahassee as they were the
first of Tallahassee's patients. The Orlando Center suffered severe
scrutiny for claims of abuse by former employees & patient family
members. While the Sunland Training Centers were under fire, plans to
close the institutions arose. In 1983, Orlando & Tallahassee had lost a
Sunland Training Center.
The structure in Orlando remained until 1997. It was
torn down because a teenager (Kevin Murdock) fell down an elevator
shaft. He didn't die, however it took his friends 3 hours to return
with help. The grounds today have been transformed into a playground.
However, just because the building is gone, it doesn't mean the spirits
are gone as well.

Ashley's Restaurant |
Playful ghosts are often a joy to have around. Many who claim to
have a playful ghost say they don't want to get rid of them. This ghost
likes to play jokes on people by hiding keys and other valuables. They
are always found, but in places they shouldn't be. Locals claim this
restaurant is built on top of a former train station. The story is that
the station caught fire years back. Also, the train tracks next to the
restaurant supposedly claimed the life of a young woman who was hit by
an oncoming train. Other locals claim further that the site is a former
Indian burial ground. |

Shiloh Cemetery |
Some say this old cemetery is haunted. It's located
down a dirt road past Page Jackson Cemetery. The marble sign at the
entrance of the cemetery is worn and "Shiloh" can barely be made out.
People have claimed to see and photograph a woman in the cemetery.
Local Resident: "Let
me tell you a little I know about Shiloh Cemetery. I used to live
directly behind Shiloh cemetery and we moved from the home several
months after moving in. At first I didn't know there was a cemetery
behind these new homes, but it became apparent very soon after we
settled in. Strange noises could be heard sometimes early evening, but
usually late at night, starting around 10-11pm. Also strange and eerie
glows could be seen from the cemetery and at times it sounded like we
could hear these hollow sounding moans coming from within Shiloh. It was
very unnerving and when we asked about the cemetery were told that it
was established back in the early 1870's when Sanford was founded and
that there were many restless spirits there that walked the cemetery at
night. I've also heard rumor that there have been Satanic rituals
performed in both Shiloh and Page Jackson Cemeteries and even graves
disturbed, markers overturned and moved about. Some by human
intervention and some by the spirits that reside there. I've never
researched the history of any of the cemeteries, nor do I want to even
go there. But since I overheard...talking about it, I thought you'd just
like to know some of what goes on in there after dark."
Directions: Head North on
17-92 (French Avenue in Sanford) coming from Longwood. In Sanford, turn
left at the Intersection of 17-92 & H. E. Thomas Parkway. Approximately
1-2 miles down the road you will see two different cemeteries on both
sides of the road. Turn left on the first asphalt driveway. You will
pass a couple of houses on your right. You will pass a sign for Page
Jackson Cemetery then the road turns to dirt. This dirt road goes
through Page Jackson Cemetery. Once inside, the road forks, take the
fork LEFT to get to Shiloh Cemetery. |

Harder Hall |
Harder hall is a large hotel that was first built in the 1920's. It
has changed hands many times, and every owner has died under
extremely strange circumstances, most of the time, right in the hotel.
There have been many accidents in the hotel, and all of which had at
least 1 fatality. Some of the accidents include: fire, flood, floor
collapse, innumerable suicides, murders, and others. Witnesses see
lights inside and hear music. Most anyone can see the people peering out
from the windows, and/or see the multitude of people roaming around in
the courtyard, searching for something. |

It is said that at the end of Jones Road there is a haunted creek. A
little boy died in it several years ago. He was swinging on a rope
attached to a tree that hung over the creek. The rope broke, and the boy
feel on some rocks in the middle of the creek and died. If you go to the
creek you can hear the little boy. He's very angry and doesn't like
people to come back there. The creek is in the middle of woods so it's
usually always dark |

Doors in the ladies room are reported to shut and lock and toilets

managers past in the upstairs theaters that used to be one large
balcony. Voices have been heard in the hall near auditorium #5 late at
night when no one was in the building. An usher once heard someone call
his name in auditorium #3 late at night when no one was around. And,
last, an assistant manager once told me she had been followed up the
hall by a shadow figure on the wall that was not hers. |

Auditorium - Years ago a teacher died in the
auditorium (area 1) of a heart attack during a pep rally. A cold spot

It is an old theater that is very intricately detailed inside and
has a particularly haunted look to it anyway. A young man in the 1940's
started working there, his job running the projector. He loved his job
and continued to work there until his death. Now employees have said
that they occasionally hear footsteps and chains in deserted hallways
behind the stage and have spotted someone in the projecting room even
though there was no one up there at the time. Also reports of smell
rancid smells, such as vomit and garbage, drafts of icy air, reports of
something grabbing workers by the neck. |

|
This cemetery is featured in a book called Florida's Ghostly Legends and Haunted Folklore. The author of the
book personally investigated this cemetery and referenced other
paranormal investigations that have taken place here. The mausoleum is
the focus of the investigation in this book. Supposedly the mausoleum is
haunted by a girl named Stephanie who was killed in a car accident.
While investigating this mausoleum, they got many EVP, some threatening
and have experienced other strange phenomena. Plus they report that
local police officers have experienced strange occurrences in this
cemetery. We have collected most of our EVP from in and around this
mausoleum. Also the old part of the cemetery is fairly active as well.

Another theater haunting is not a big surprise at all. Even more
common is that this haunting is in the attic. Objects have been seen

If you aren't familiar with these symptoms, the bad smell is usually
evident of a malicious haunting, though no claims to such have been made |

Annie Russell Theatre |
Annie Russell is widely believed to haunt this theatre named for her in the early 1930's. She was a teacher and director at Rollins College. She has been seen and even spoken to by numerous people. There are stories of former students who had encounters with Annie while working in the theatre on audition pieces, sets, or lights. One story in particular that sticks in my mind is there was a guy who was working alone in the theatre on the light grid. Suddenly he fell off the ladder. He was all alone in the theatre and lay there for a few minutes. Someone came in a few minutes later and saw him laying there. The person immediately went to call an ambulance and was told that they had already been called and one was on it way. A minute later, an ambulance appeared and took the injured boy to the hospital. There was no one in the theatre when that boy was initially injured. There have been other stories of people seeing Annie's statue (a bust of her head) moving across the theatre. Also, Annie had a seat that she always sat in when she watched rehearsals- that seat has often been heard banging up and down, pulled down when no one was sitting in it, and clapping has been heard coming from that area of the theatre. Ghost of Anne Russell comes out sometimes during rehearsals. She has been seen sitting in prop rocking chair or seeing her walking around at night wearing a purple dress. There have also been reports of ghosts appearing in the theater balcony. |
| Ponce Inlet |
Ponce Inlet Lighthouse |
Ghosts reportedly walk at the Ponce de Leon Lighthouse, a location that is not merely accessible to the public, but is visited by perhaps hundreds of tourists daily. After climbing 203 steps to the top of the tower, visitors exit onto the gallery deck to view the Ponce de Leon Inlet, once known as Mosquito Inlet, the Atlantic Ocean beyond, and, on the inland side, the Halifax River. Completed in 1887, the Ponce de Leon Inlet Light Station was built when the area was known as Mosquito Inlet. After decades of restoration by the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Association, it stands today as one of the best preserved, most complete Light Stations. |
